Re: Galfer Wave rotors

Will EBC HH pads work with these rotors or do they require a special Galfer pad?

Do you have the rear rotor too?

thanks, Bill

Yes. These are 420 ss so teh EBC HH pads will work. Galfer claims that their pads are best on these rotors but they are trying to sell you pads.

I found that Carbone Lorraine SBK pads actually work best. Best over all feel and they last the longest on Galfer Wave rotors.

I don't have the wave rear but I have other rear rotors that I would be willing to add for $50 more. Here are some pics.

Wow !
Cool looking rear rotors !
Who makes the different ones?
Are they 420 stainless steel too?
The first two have two colors. What's the deal with those?

Sorry for all the questions...I'm still learning about all the VTR brake options

Thanks, Bill

Re: Galfer Wave rotors

This is actually my work. I take stock rotors and cut them with these 3 different patterns.

The top 2 are newer CBR rotors. The center section is slightly dished to reduce weight. All CBR rotors, RC rotors and superhawk rotors are interchangable.

These rotors are featured in Streetbike review at the following address.
http://streetbikereview.com/sbr_revi...to_rotor.shtml

The rotors I have on the shelf are new OEM rotors that have been cut. I retail them for $135 I also sell used rotors that I have resurfaced and cut. They are still thicker than the min.

The rotor I am offering you for $50 is a new rotor. I am only making this offer if you want to buy the Galfer front rotors.

Some time next year I will have my line of custom front rotors available. I have no completion date in sight yet. Here is a sneak peak.

Wow, that's a very busy photograph. That has gotta take forever to fabricate. I'd be willing to pay the $50 if someone is already buying the Galfers.

Sorry the $50 offer is only good to the person willing to buy the Galfer rotors.

I do offer these as resurfaced on my side for $119

Or I can cut your existing rotor for $70 and resurface for $20

Re: Galfer Wave rotors

So I can use my EBC HH pads (with only 670 miles on them) on the new rotors both front and rear ?

Should I resurface the pads so they will seat to the new rotors?

And (last question) do the wave rotors really improve braking noticeably?

Thanks, Bill

Technically yes the pads will work. However I always reccomend bedding in a new set of pads on new rotors. Your pads will work. I would reccomend hitting the surface of the pads with some 220 lightly to remove any glazing on the pads.

Keep in mind that as with all new rotors you need to bed in the pads so slow at first. Don't go out and jump on the brakes and expect them to stop fast.

Yes Wave rotors as any rotors that have open surface area to atmosphere will allow for better cooling. These are full floating rotors so you will notice that they stop faster than stock rotors but you will also notice a low frequency hum or some noise at low speeds.

Most noticably when you come to a stop sign becuase the rotors float on the carriers they make some noise.

As for my rear rotors I sell most of them to racers for one reason. So far no one has been able to lock up the rear end of their bike under hard braking in a turn. In fact most tell me that the rear rotor inspires confidence through the turn.

Re: Galfer Wave rotors

Are the new Galfer waves that a customer did not get, still available? I am very interested in them as well as one of you new OEM custom cut rear rotors....
