damn, i'm a threadjacker...but the 5500 IS a nice amp!
they used to run drive-in movie theater speakers, 800 of them. i use them to run my line-arrays. 200 watts clean, 340 peak (ea.). i'm still fine tuning them, they are heavily modified Ballantyne Royal Sound Master MX-24's. I'm adding some more capacitance on the input, driver and high voltage output stages. they're remarkably wide-bandwidth for 2 interstage transformer coupled 1958 technology. i use the 5802 to run subs.

give this nice amp a new home, someone!
rebuild those klipsch's, they're worth it! i bought the 5802 after hearing my bud's 5800 on some klipsch with the active 12" and a passive 15" on the rear baffle... he blew them up too, lol!

Adcom amps are good!
I never have used a passive x-over w/ them, always electronic and separate mono-blocks.

I suspect you guys are way ahead of me. I'm still getting by on my old Luxman amp and tuner and a pair of JBL 110s. I love those JBL 110s. If there is a better pair of speakers for listening to SRV, Lowell George, Clapton, Buddy Guy, Albert King etc. maybe I don't want to know about it 'cause I paid $170 for a pair of JBL 110s back in the day and I still love 'em.
