I had a little time on my hands today...
So as usual I managed to take something apart...
This time I molested an old bedframe with an anglegrinder and welder... The result was a workstand for my bike that's a lot easier than any I have tried to date... And all of those I forked over money for...

Hey! Don't mock!
Actually it's gubermint issue curtains from the local hospital ca 1990 or so... I have used it on the bike the last 8 or 9 years... I'm pretty sure she would feel funny going in winter hibernation without it now so I'll keep it...

Ok... So I'm bored tonight...
Here's my other project today... Another (improved) HID projector setup... I'm doing this for a mate's VTR (he's been wanting one since I did mine)...
A G35 projector was used, the matching pair to the one already on my bike... But I decided that this time it was going to fit completely inside, not have the connector for the bulb poking out to interfere with the fairing/gauge bracket at the rear... Mine is a very tight fit...
Another pre-requisite (also on my original) was to keep the ability to aim it with the bolts at the rear of the housing, just like stock...
Some finishing touches and some matte black paint on the front aluminum plate and it should be done... Pretty sturdy, light weight and looks decent... The connector on the bulb sits flush with the edge of the hole in the housing, and has enough wiggle room to aim it, and remove the bulb... Though I doubt doing it with the faring on the bike will be anything less than a royal PITA...

You seem hung up on that fact... The whole thing was less than 5 hours of build time... The only thing different is that I work 12-14h shifts, so instead of doing stuff spread out over a few evenings after work I get weekdays off in between... And since everybody else is at work, I have the day until my gf comes home to plan on my own... I obviously also have "must do's", but every now and then I set aside a day or like now a half day for fun...
The stand was less than an hour, build-test-paint... I knew what it should be like thanks to copying an existing design... Started with that first thing in the morning, was cold in he shop so I preferred angle grinder to calipers...
The HID, I already knew how the headlight looked inside, and I had built it a hundred times in my head... So aside from paint and heating the glue and sticking it together I had it done before lunch...
The rest of the day was errands and family obligations...
Now I might have time to finish today amongst all the "must do's", otherwise it will have to wait until after the next 3 12h shifts coming up... You aren't that fresh in the head after work then, so no playtime...

Tried to PM. Your box is full. Hey tweety how much to make me a set of those plates since you have allready done the work you should sell them. Oh by the way I am going to do this swap and wanted to know if I need the ballast as well. Thanks.

That damned thing is always full... Sorry...
If you do a HID you will need a ballast yes... It's easies to stick it either in the side of the fairing (fake air intake) or on top of the headlight housing... Just make sure it stays put...
I'll gladly make another set and sell you, lemme think on the price... The caveat here is that I'm in Sweden, so shipping is a bitch, and it only works with that very same type of projector... (at least as far as I know)

There are definately times that I get hung up on that fact. My "must do" list is insane, plus two small kids. Once the kids are a couple of years older and I buck up on the "must do" I hope to have more time to tinker. I started VTS in late 05'. Crap, thats almost five years ago. That bike should have been done well inside a year.
A little jealous on my part, only human after all.
Thankful for what I have.
Keep up the great work Tweety.
