Ok, guys, I live in Illinois, but my Job told me Friday that I am going to SoCal for 2 weeks starting Monday the 5 th to Sunday the 18th.

I don't have my schedule yet, but I know I am flying into and out of LAX, and will likely be within 100 or so miles of there most of the time.

If I go without Doing Something bike related for 2 weeks, I think I will go stir-crazy. I don't think I will have enough free time to rent a bike, but I definately want to "see what I can see". Is there anything interesting going on around there?

Anyway, anybody in or around LA that would like to take pity on a wandering soul, post here and I will contact you. If you like you can EMAIL me at barrysuperhawk "at" hotmail.com

Also, I am going to want to buy a Southern California Atlas and Gazeteerwhen I get there, is there any place close to LAX that would have such a thing?

If any of y'all get to the midwest, I promise to return the favor and show you every strip-club and good road in a 5 state area...

You can let me know when you get in. My email is marmboy@gmail.com.

I live in the San Gabriel Valley, which is about 25-30 minutes away from LAX (heading East). I'm about 7 miles away from the Crest and not too far from Azusa/GMR. Ortega and Palomar are a bit farther, but are fun to ride (I've ridden Ortega, but not Pally).

You can rent a bike, if you wanted, from sportbikerental.com.

On Thursday, there's Frisco's bike night. The one on June 8th is supposed to be HUGE.

There is at least one bike night on Wednesdays, too.

Yeah, right???? Weird...

Definitely pick the Duc. We can do an informal Superhawk vs 749 test. :)

I've only been to Cali once but fell in love instanly. I didn't get to ride there though but would've loved to have ridden the PCH that road rocks!

PCH is fun, too. There are some side routes up through the Malibu canyons that are real tight and twisty. Just gotta watch out for the hot moms and their gargantuan SUVs running you off the road. ;)

Yup! That's why I stay away from the coast, and ride in the yummy smog-filled air of downtown LA. :P

 If you're into dirt the dunes in Pebble beach were awesome as well. How far are you from there Marm?

MapQuest says 350 miles, give or take 10. 'tis a bit far. ;)

Guess so, we weren't really paying attention to mileage when we were there. We rented an Explorer with unlimited mileage in Reno NV. it had 16 miles on it. When we brought it back it had 2600 miles on it. The guy said, "where did you go L.A. and back? " Ummm yeah we did.

Mapquest says 2200 miles. I looked at my list and I am essentially doing a lap of Cali, as far north as eureka, and then back down to San Diego and back to LA... The only question now is the timing. I will try to post progress reports, and if y'all see your towns come up, well, sing out....
